After Scotsmen in their kilts and whisky, Loch Ness and Nessie are probably the two next things people around the world know and remember about Scotland. A few years ago, a group of friends who had got together for a wee dram were talking about Scotland and how to get more people to try whisky and persuade them to visit this great country. The friends, with nearly 100 years of experience in the drinks industry, as well as having travelled to the four corners of the globe, came up with the idea to create the The Loch Ness Whisky Company.
There was much discussion among the friends, and many drams were consumed, as to whether Loch Ness Whisky should be a Malt whisky or a blend, or if it should be a smokey, peaty malt or a lighter, sweeter floral malt. Their conclusion was that it should be a single Highland Malt which would be appreciated by the experienced Malt whisky drinker but would also please the blended whisky drinker or the occasional whisky drinker. The search was on for this elusive whisky, just as the search is on for the elusive Nessie.
Once again, this group of friends had to spend many days and nights looking and tasting many casks until the gold nectar was found. Then one day it happened - the ultimate Malt was found, a whisky that had all the elements they wanted: its name: the Loch Ness Single Highland Malt Whisky.
